Life Legacy
Wayne Eugene Varland, 86, of Rockford, died at 11:00 p.m. Thursday March 29, 2012 at Willows Health Center in Rockford. Born on January 6, 1926 in Ottawa, IL to Arther and Grace (Jelm) Varland. 60 year Rockford resident, coming here from Ottawa, IL. Married the former Sally Countryman in Rockford, August 1950. He was an independent insurance agent with Coyle-Varland Insurance for 60 years. Veteran of WWII serving in the Army Air Force. Member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. A graduate of the University of Illinois.
Survivors include his son, David A. (Patricia) Varland; D.D.S of Rockford; son, Daniel E. (Susan) Varland, PHD. of Hoquiam, WA; son, Andy (Cheryl) Varland of Schaumberg, IL; Daughter, Mary Anne O'Donnell of Rockford; and many Grandchildren.
Memorial service to be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 3300 Rural Street, Rockford, Illinois 61107, at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 19, 2012

A NOTE FROM WAYNE.
When I left the farm for World War II, I never dreamed what a wonderful life I would lead. Those days took me to the University of Illinois where I met my life long love, Sally Countryman. We came to Rockford for her family and worked at the Varland Agency with my Uncle. We had a wonderful life and family that blossomed from our hearts. I was blessed to accomplish many things during my lifetime as a member of the Winnebago County Board, a President of the Professional Insurance Agents Association and through my insurance business. Most of all, I enjoyed interacting with all the people I met. Thank you all for the joy you have brought me and God bless you all.
