Biography

Dorothy C. Larson of Thousand Oaks, California, passed away at her home on April 15, 2010. She was born June 29, 1914, in Davis Junction, IL. the daughter of Hannah and Otto Pohl. Dorothy was a National Honor Society Scholar. She worked at Washington National Insurance Co. until moving to California in 1970. She began a second career in nursing at Los Robles Hospital. She began her faith journey at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Rockford and was most recently a member of Redeemer Lutheran in Thousand Oaks. She will surely be missed by her church family. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ernest Pohl, and sisters, Sally Dool, Lucille Kleinhaus, Evelyn, Betty and Harriet Pohl. She is survived by her daughter, Lory Breitzman of Thousand Oaks, son, Ed Knauss and wife Mary Lou of West Chicago. IL. Grandchildren, Cami Breitzman of Oak Park, Jill Breitzman of Thousand Oaks, David Breitzman and wife Michelle and great grandson Nevin Aedan of Queen Creek, AZ. Sisters, Fern Laurence, Agnes Flemming, Fran Davis and Lois Bridge of Rockford. She was blessed to be a part of a large family of 23 nieces, nephews and their children. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 24, 2010, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Northwest site at 4881 Kilburn Ave. in Rockford, IL. 61101. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. on Friday, April 23, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial at Big Mound Cemetery in Davis Junction, IL. Memorials may be given in care of the family.
